Paddock Hair Styles 4-8

Alpaca hair style
Marti

Marti is a laid back, wash and wear sort of guy. He strikes me as the type who doesn't bother to shave on the weekends and goes out to dinner in whatever he happened to throw on this morning.

333 days pregnant today. Waiting, and watching. Here’s our expectant mum. This was filmed a while back, she has a lot more fleece on her now. Have to think about shearing soon, now spring has arrived.

I've tried to compress it so it doesn't take half the day to download, but its still about 2MB so might take a while. If you're on dial-up, go and make a nice cuppa while you're waiting

Waiting for alpacas to unpack is like watching paint dry, or the old proverbial kettle. You can't do anything to hurry things up, so you just gotta be patient.

I've been doing a multimedia course which requires learning Flash, something super fun to do while I wait for my girls to produce their beautiful babies for me

Just a Happy Snap

September 11th 2007 02:19
I took this photo while I was down the paddock checking on the girls the other day. The two little girls were just sitting there in the sun together looking very cute.

The fawn girl on the left is Madeline (Maddy), born on 11 January 07 and the white girl is Penelope (Penny), born 28 December 06

Gumboot Curiosity

September 3rd 2007 22:40
My alpacas seem to have a fascination with gumboots, at least the crias (babies) do anyway. They’re not so interested while I’m walking about, but if I sit down on the ground with my legs out in front, my gumboots appear to take on a life of their own.

Perhaps it’s because the boots stick up and as they are a small distance away from me (albeit attached by legs), the crias behave as though my boots are some other animal which needs to be checked out

That Illusive garden plant

August 27th 2007 02:21
I often let the alpacas into the garden to mow the lawn for me. It is fabulous, as they munch the grass down like a bowling green, lovely and even. I can just sit and listen to them eat the grass - a much better sound than a conventional lawnmower and especially nice when you don’t have to push the thing around.

There are no grass clippings to collect, just a bit of manure if they decide they need to go. That gets tossed over into the vegie patch. When they’ve eaten the lawn down to the required level, I just herd them out again

Is there an alpaca in the house?

August 23rd 2007 05:13
I heard about an old lady whose alpaca had died and she was looking for another one. Apparently her alpaca had lived in the house and slept with her on the bed.

Whether this is true or not, I don’t know. I suppose there’s no reason why you couldn’t have an alpaca as a house pet, though personally, I prefer them to be out in the paddock

Alpaca Meat

August 13th 2007 04:46
This gets number one on my website search stats every single month without fail. Not ‘alpacas’, or ‘alpacas for sale’ or anything thing like that, it’s alpaca meat that the people are interested in.

I guess it makes perfect sense. People ARE overwhelmingly obsessed with food, and what else we can shove in our faces to satisfy our voracious appetite for something “NEW”. The massive obesity problem we are facing in developed countries establishes this well and truly
