The Bombay Call Centre

April 28th 2008 06:11
They've been on the boil pretty much non-stop today. I’ve got some work on which involves excel and word documents with lots of data and graphs etc all linked up to each other - yes, I know, the day’s already doomed when you’re dealing with anything microsoft.

Anyway, I got a few calls early on. People I simply could not understand, someone asking for the “gentleman owner please of the business’ (grrrrr) and a couple more who sounded like they were phoning from down a mine shaft

Alpaca Notes Categories

April 18th 2008 01:02
I’ve been busy organising my posts into categories. I’ve got a few posts on here now, so I thought I should break them up so if you are looking for something particular about alpacas, you can find it more quickly.
Alpaca Notes Categories

I probably should break it down a bit more into sub-categories, but that will take some thinking about, and hell, it’s Friday, All I’m thinking about today is the weekend

Snakes Alive

March 11th 2008 22:17
It's the time of year for them and I nearly stepped on a slitherer yesterday. I simply wasn’t looking where I was walking.

Luckily the snake knew I was coming (he wasn’t daydreaming about other things as I was) and moved away in the other direction before we made physical contact. I only spotted him because he moved. Needless to say, I was propelled backwards about a metre, but was then pinned to the spot for a short while I watched him slither off into the grass

Cold Snap

February 25th 2008 02:37
I had a worrying night Saturday. It rained heavily throughout the day (no complaints about that!). But the temperature dropped and then the wind came up and it kept blowing and raining into the night.

Our alpacas were shorn back in November, so they have enough fleece now for them to cope, but I was concerned about our agistees, who were shorn just over a month ago. Our crias too, especially the two youngest ones, would be feeling pretty cold out in that

Ah, The Rain!

February 8th 2008 10:43
It’s raining and I’m appreciating that great sound of rain on the tin roof, a little bit more than usual.

We are in an area which is pretty green and normally gets a good amount of rain, so we haven’t had to think much about water issues

Some alpacas are posers and will parade in front of the camera for as long as you point it at them. (Just like some people hey!) I've got a couple of alpacas like that. They're the ones who you end up with a zillion photos of, simply because they're always there when you turn up with a camera.

However, there are definitely some alpacas who consciously prevent you from getting a decent photo of them. I guess, as most of them are naturally wary of humans (very wise animals!) they get nervous when you're following them around with a camera

Have you shot your alpaca today?

November 8th 2007 21:59
Yes, I have had a couple of animals here, over the years, who I’ve thought about sending to heaven. But on this occasion I’m talking about taking photos, not pot shots.

When it comes to taking photos of alpacas, all I can say is, thank goodness for digital cameras. With a digital, you can take a thousand shots and if you get one good one, you haven’t wasted a pile of money processing all the duds

Still FLASHING!

November 1st 2007 23:06
They say (whoever "they" are), that keeping your mind active is the key to a long and healthy life. Now, apart from a few very basic care requirements, there’s not that much to do with alpacas except watch them eat grass. It's hardly mind challenging stuff.

So, for fun and to give my brain the occasional workout, I’ve been having a play with Flash
