Helping out
June 30th 2011 04:20
We're down six alpacas here now and only have two on the website for sale so at the mo, I'm helping out a friend who also needs to sell a few of her alpacas.
I met Susan through chickens, rather than alpacas, as she (apart from having alpacas) runs a road-side produce stall, where I buy my eggs. Her hens lay the most beautiful, big, free-range eggs you're ever going to find anywhere in the world. She also sells lots of other fruit and veg, homemade cookies (biscuits) - YUM!!! and preserves - Double YUM!!! (love the raspberry jam, then the blueberry, then the plum!)
Anyway, Susan needs to sell a few of her alpacas because she simply doesn't have the land to keep them without having to supplement with hay and chaff. I was talking to her the other day when I called in for a dozen eggs and mentioned I'd sold three boys recently and was down to six pacas. She said she had decided to sell some of hers, due to the lack of pasture out in the paddocks, so I said I'd put them on my website.
99% of our enquiries these days come via the web so I figured it would be easy enough to put her alpacas up on my site and help her out. She's sent through some photos and details and they look like lovely animals.
So if you've been thinking about getting some very cool grass munchers, or are seeking a new interest in breeding or showing these amazing creatures, do take a look. Owning alpacas has been an amazing experience for me, and my friend. You'll meet wonderful people and enjoy a lifestyle envied by so many.
