Lucy’s Birthday

February 3rd 2008 21:43
Our little black and tan Lucy turned 9 years old on Saturday. Time goes so fast.

We always have a special day for the dogs on their birthdays with presents and lots of games and a roast chicken dinner. Lucy’s a big fan of squeaky toys, so it’s never hard knowing what to get her as a present

Fun under the doona

January 2nd 2008 22:02
Still waiting for Pema to unpack. 349 days pregnant today. She’s sitting around like someone who’s had way too much dinner. She’s also puffy round the back end and bagging up a bit (getting an udder), so they’re good signs that she’s not too far away.

So, we just have to wait and watch. That’s the hard bit. As alpacas are pregnant for nearly 12 months, the last few weeks are just too long

Christmas - Gone to the Dogs

December 26th 2007 22:37
The 'kids' in our family get Christmas pressies. The dachies enjoy ripping into parcels and it’s watching them that makes Christmas for me.

Dachshund Notes

December 14th 2007 05:18
Introducing Lucy Lou, otherwise known as Lucy Pup (or Lucy Paaaaaaarp). She’s 8 years old now, so we should probably stop calling her that, though she’s very little and people think she’s a puppy.

Lucy is a black and tan miniature long haired dachshund. A bit short in the legs (and neck) to be confused with an alpaca

A new fence for the dachies

November 21st 2007 00:32
The fencing guys are here today putting big holes everywhere. We're not doing fencing for the alpacas this time, but for the very spoiled dachshunds who live here. Although it will also mean I can get the alpacas to eat more grass for me (so I don't have to mow it ). Currently, I have to put up a temporary fence when I want the alpacas up near the house.

The fence is going to be treated pine with wire mesh. Something like this one
