Up close and personal

Alpacas are curious but cautious animals. They are very flighty and it can take a long time to earn their trust. They are not naturally cuddly, affectionate animals (despite their appearance).
However, once you become familiar to your alpacas and they know that you won’t harm them, they lighten up and over time they can become quite tame and friendly.
This is great for your ego, as it’s something you need to earn. Alpacas won’t simply love you, like a dog will. If an alpaca likes you, then you know that he thinks you’re worthy of being liked - It doesn’t count when you’ve come with a handful of yummy food for them though, because any alpaca will like you if you have food.
Having friendly alpacas can be a liability sometimes though, like when you’re trying to take a photo or a movie of them.
