336 days pregnant
December 20th 2007 22:18
Well, most of the girls are sitting around looking like whales today. We’ve had fantastic weather, warm, sunny days, 30 yesterday and 15 overnight.
A perfect 24 expected today and I think we’ve hit that already.
Fiona and Pema are 336 days today, so they could unpack anytime now. They’re both first time mums and it’s obvious they’re wondering why they’re feeling so big and uncomfortable.
The older girls are just laying about. They know what’s happening and just get on with it.
Pema’s looking a bit puffy round the back end and visiting the poo pile more frequently. That’s a normal sign, but doesn’t indicate anything much except she’s close. Could be days to weeks. Needless to say I’m keeping a close watch on all of them.
I’ve noticed the girls hum a bit more when they’re getting near their due date. Not sure if that’s just a discomfort thing, or if they’re talking to their unborn cria. They certainly do a lot of humming and clucking after the cria arrives.
All very exciting though. It’s always lovely to have brand new little alpacas running around. Fingers crossed for more nice weather. Forecast is 21 and fine for Christmas day. Just about perfect.

Could well be Christmas babies.
We've had 2 before, Joseph and Nicholas. Same mum, 2 years in a row.
Let's see if she can pull it off again. Have a good one. Cheers.

Geeky Blog
Christmas bubs sounds great and what a coincidence before, life's funny like that sometimes.
Don't work too hard and have a Great Christmas Day and a monster feed.
