Alpaca Art

I’ve called this one “Tantrum” by Jessica.
We were doing some alpaca toenail clipping and little Jessica decided she didn’t want her toenails clipped. In true pregnant alpaca style, she decided to make her feelings known by spray painting the wall of the shed.
It is amazing the distances they can project that magnificent regurgitated goo.
It’s dried off in the picture, but was a lovely bright green to start with - I was too busy taking a shower to bother with a photo at the time and was probably not in the right frame of mind to go back down to the shed afterwards.
Just like us, alpacas have their good and bad days. Some days they’re happy to see you and are pleasant and nice natured to work with. Other days they are ratty and irritable and just don’t want to know.
As it happens, the days when they are particularly obnoxious are quite often the days you have planned to do shearing, vaccinations, toenails, or are taking them to a fair. If you are going to a fair - to display your beautiful alpacas - they’ve usually spent the whole night spray painting each other, just so they all look (and smell) fabulous, covered in big green gobs of spit.
Sometimes when they’re having “one of those days”, so are you. The best thing you can do on these days is forget the alpacas and go out for lunch, or see a movie or something. Another day won’t make any difference. It's much better to just leave it and try again later, than to get everyone worked up.
Windy days are particularly useless for getting anything done with alpacas. I believe this may also ring true for other animals (and children).
Usually, by the next day, everyone’s happy again and the job is done in a quarter of the time it would have taken if you’d persisted the day before with everyone spitting and/or swearing their heads off.

Wise words, great art and a great recipe for child rearing of the human kind, all parents please take note.
katyzzz...my site is effectively down, at present, it's very frustrating.

We all have our days, pity our human society doesn't realise and accommodate that.
Hope your site is feeling better and back on deck soon. Cheers.

Thanks for dropping by.
It was a bit annoying at the time, as I just needed to get the job done, but it was pretty funny. You just have to be able to duck fast with these creatures about. I should start calling her Jessica Van Gogh.
I guess you can't really put off the kids' bath till another day. Gotta laugh though. Cheers.
